Role Overview
Premier League Studios is seeking a Lead Sound & Comms to lead the audio operations team at our new cutting-edge West London facility.
Responsible for audio fidelity across the facility, the role oversees both in-house and freelance teams, managing core systems like Calrec and Riedel. You’ll lead on system configuration, daily operations, and contribute to projects, disaster recovery planning, and ongoing innovation.
A calm, confident communicator, you'll manage priorities and incidents while working with IT, Engineering, Production, and the wider Premier League team to deliver reliable, future-ready audio services in a fast-paced, automation-led environment.

Premier League Studios is based in a custom-built, 73,000 sq ft production facility at One Olympia, West London. From here, we deliver 6,000+ hours of content per season to over 180 broadcasters globally, covering all 380 Premier League matches.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage, lead, and develop the audio operations team
- Lead the ongoing design, deployment, and lifecycle management of audio systems, applications and connectivity.
- Set up and be responsible for the facility communications systems and integration to Outside Broadcast operations.
- Set up and be responsible for Calrec systems, software and associated 3rd party equipment to support Live, Gallery and Studio Operations
- Work closely with the Head of Technical Operations and Engineering, to ensure studio and gallery systems are optimised, upgraded and fit for purpose.
- Manage Multichannel audio workflows from acquisition to delivery
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering, operations, vendors, and the leadership team.
- Manage system architecture and technical standards, ensuring scalability, reliability, redundancy and compliance.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, configuration documentation, training material and operational procedures.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of critical system failures or performance issues.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies to enhance workflow efficiency, reduce operational risk, and support evolving content delivery models.
- Provide senior-level support and escalation for Engineering, Technical Operations and Production teams.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry standards and practices to recommend and implement improvements to existing systems
- Monitor and report service availability.
- Manage team workloads, priorities, and escalations.
- Adhere to the health and safety policies and occupational health practices
- Ensure satisfactory staff and freelance rostering and cover for all operational needs
- Familiarise, train and support freelance sound colleagues, where required.
- Ensure that technical faults are cleared, or alternative ways of meeting production or other requirements are identified and quickly implemented
- Assist in managing suppliers against SLA’s and contracts
- Log issues that arise in the ticketing system
Requirements For The Role
Technical
- Experience with Calrec software, surfaces and Impulse Core
- Proven experience with Riedel Artist and Bolero Comms system
- Proven experience with 2110, AES67 and Dante networking for audio.
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Experience with IP networking, Windows/Linux operating systems, and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or batch scripting).

Experience
- Strong understanding of audio standards and delivery criteria
- The ability to make critical assessment of audio signals, both with ear and visual metering.
- Proven experience working in a similar role in a broadcast environment
- Ability to manage, lead, and prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Flexible and able to adapt to changes to work schedule when required
- Experience implementing software and hardware upgrades
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, self-directed, and organized
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Hands on and remote technical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to translate technical language to non-technical people
