Data Technician

Website Mission Digital

Mission is a major provider of digital workflows to the motion picture industry. Our aim is to provide innovative solutions throughout the production pipeline. Mission has provided services to studio features produced by the likes of Universal, Netflix and Amazon, to name but a few.

As we are growing and taking on more opportunities, we are looking for a new member to join our Workflow Solutions team. The role is an excellent opportunity for a person with a keen interest in the technical side of the film and TV industry who is looking to grow their knowledge and experience.

This role will be based at our Shepperton Studios office.

Whilst we are ideally looking for someone with some experience in the field, either through post-production or on set work, we are always keen to hear from anyone who believes that they may have relevant complimentary skills.

We expect the role to include the following daily responsibilities:

  • Physical management of media assets – checking items in and out of the facility
  • In-house processing including archiving, restoring, transcoding and VFX file delivery
  • Providing support and assistance for our operators on location, on set and on dailies labs.
  • Assisting with day-to-day running of our in-house systems
  • Collaborating with all teams within Mission to ensure the smooth running of our projects
  • Carrying out research and testing on new hardware and software tools

This role is primarily technical, and requires a good aptitude for computers, data workflow and video processing. Knowledge of specific software used within the film industry is advantageous, and being thorough and precise is essential. The role can involve the need to balance a number of tasks at once, so being flexible and capable of multitasking is important.

We do not necessarily expect candidates to have experience in all areas of the role already, and training will be provided as appropriate. Listed below are some skills/areas of knowledge that would be beneficial for an applicant to have:

  • Knowledge of LTO media
  • Knowledge of video software, including Yoyotta, AVID, Davinci Resolve and Silverstack
  • Knowledge of camera types and formats
  • Knowledge of different storage media types such as RAID, JBOD, SAN, types of connectivity, transfer performance

Mission aims to be an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race. In addition we are keen to increase diversity at every level of our organisation, in order to better reflect both our client base and the communities we serve. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates as BAME people are currently under-represented within the film and TV industry.

In return, you’ll get to work with a dedicated and friendly team, and be involved in some of the most exciting digital film projects currently being shot both here in the UK and abroad. As well as offering our team excellent rates of pay, at Mission we love to help people grow and expand their roles, and we’re happy to support you in achieving your career ambitions. If you’re prepared to work hard, we’ll take good care of you too. At Mission we operate on a 35hr working week. If you’d like to apply for this role, please forward your CV and covering letter to us at
