Job Purpose/Summary: 

The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for supporting the finance team in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This role encompasses a variety of financial tasks, including the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting. The Financial Assistant will oversee expense management, particularly the month-end reconciliation of prepaid card systems and the execution of weekly payment runs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 •  Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. 

 •  Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering and analysing financial data. 
 •  Expense Management: Oversee the management and month-end reconciliation of the prepaid cards systems the company has in place. Also responsible for the preparation and execution of weekly payment runs 
 •  Systems improvement: Help maintain and improve the current systems in place, communicating with key stakeholders to help improve processes across the business. 
 •  Accounts Payable: Manage the accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices. 
 •  Reconciliations: Perform bank and ledger reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records. 
 •  Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards. 
 •  Financial Analysis: Provide insightful financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic planning. 
 •  Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in various ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as required.
 •  Financial Documentation: Ensuring all financial documentation is accurately maintained and readily accessible for auditing and reference purposes.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

 • Education: A qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential. A degree or professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is highly desirable.

 • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the media industry. 
 • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage 200 Preferable) Experience with media industry-specific financial systems is a plus. 
  Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. 
 • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely. 
 • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently. 
 • Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and learn new skills as required.
