Celebrate International Women’s Day 2022 in style with Rise, in partnership with Telestream and EMG. You are invited to join us either in person at our live event in London, or tune into online to the livestream to hear more from our fantastic line-up.

To mark this year’s International Women’s Day in style, we will be celebrating the the achievements of incredible women working in media technology, as well as exploring things we can all do to champion gender diversity and contribute to positive change in our workplaces. This event includes:

With this year’s theme being #EmbraceEquity, we’re thrilled to be joined by two incredible keynote speakers, Anita Asante and MOOV’s Niki Whittle as well as Sinead Greenaway (BBC) for a fireside chat with Rise MD, Carrie Wootten. During these insightful presentations they will be sharing more about why their inspiring stories of making their unique mark in a male-dominated sector.

About our Keynote Speakers

Anita Asante
Whether she is discussing the intricacies of international football or promoting the need for gender, racial and LGBT+ equality in sport, Anita Asante is a force to be reckoned with. The sportsperson and seasoned academic uses her voice to open doors for minority groups, as an Ambassador for Show Racism the Red Card and Amnesty International UK. Since retiring from international football, Anita has dedicated her time to presenting roles on the BBC and Sky Sports, increasing representation in a male-dominated sport.

Having made 75 appearances for England and Great Britain, Anita continues to be one of the most recognisable faces in football. She has played for the likes of Arsenal, which whom she won the FA Cup and Premier League, WPS Champions Sky Blue, and FC Rosengård, winners of the 2017 Swedish Super Cup. A testament to her skill and determination, Anita has played in and won nearly all the UK’s major football competitions, with both Chelsea and Arsenal.

In 2007, Anita was part of a history-defining Arsenal squad, who were the first team aside from the mighty Germany and Scandinavia to win the UEFA Women’s Cup. From there, she continued her domination of the sport, travelling across the Atlantic to win the 2009 US WPS Championship with Sky Blue. Moving back to Europe, this time with Swedish team FC Rosengård, Anita won the 2014 and 2015 Damallsvenskan League. A pinnacle moment in Anita’s career, was her Olympic debut. Kicking off the 2012 London Olympic Games, where she took part on the first-ever women’s team – Anita is credited for Great Britain’s success. In 2020, Anita signed with Aston Villa, after winning the WSL and Continental Cup with Chelsea. She is certainly showing no signs of slowing down, making now the best time to book this rising giant of football.

Niki Whittle
Business Strategy Executive | MOOV

With over 15 years of experience in the broadcast industry working with companies such as Sky, ITV, DAZN, and Disguise, Niki Whittle’s expertise in broadcast workflows and visual storytelling has helped her lead teams to deliver and implement innovative graphics and studio solutions for high-profile sports productions worldwide.

In her current role as Business Strategy Executive for MOOV, Niki works alongside the executive team to implement new initiatives and strategies which will help deliver the 2023 roadmap.

Sinead Greenaway

Director for Broadcast and End User Technology | BBC

As Director for Broadcast and End User Technology (B&EUT) at the BBC, Sinead is responsible for the teams who lead the specification, design, and provision of the technology that colleagues use every day to inform and entertain audiences. The B&EUT team spans a number delivery disciplines including Content Production (for sport, news, audio and live), Business Systems, Playout and Publication (including voting and competition compliance and technology) and Infrastructure, Network and End User Compute. The B&EUT Architecture, Project and Portfolio and Software Engineering teams support delivery teams spanning the whole of the BBC Technology Group and lead the charge on developing a modern media supply chain for the BBC.

Sinead joined from UKTV where, as the Chief Technology and Operations Officer, she led an extensive technology refresh spanning cloud adoption and playout transformation through to digital product development and business systems refresh. Prior to UKTV, Sinead was the Managing Director at international consultancy and talent business The Lighthouse Company. She had also been the Chief Executive of The Studios at MediaCityUK (now Dock10) where she successfully launched the business, and built and led the teams delivering production and technology services to both the BBC and other independent production companies. Sinead spent five years as Operations and Technology Director at Virgin Media Television following a number of years in commercial radio at Bauer, where she started her media career in the early nineties.

Sinead has been a member of several industry advisory boards and was a Non-Executive Director at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. She is also an active mentor working with both young professionals and aspiring teenagers.
